Dear Friends,
It’s hard to believe, but half of the year has already flown by. Summer is everywhere, but here in Texas it is SUMMER – hot, humid and just plain uncomfortable – and it will be like this through October!!! We have the AC’s cranked up as high as they will go, we’re in the backyard pools whenever possible, and heading to the malls and movie theatres in the early afternoons – anything that will help to keep us cool. Actually a quilt show in Alaska would be wonderful right about now. Any show planners reading this?
So what has happened in the first half of the year? We’ve traveled to quilt shows all around the United States – California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, Kentucky, Texas and Ohio - and of course, we were in Minneapolis for the Spring International Quilt Market. We introduced five new quilt patterns at Market: Harpers Ferry, LeMoyne House, The Long Road Home, Lydia and Lincoln’s Watch. LeMoyne House features Paula’s Bonnie Blue Basics II collection and in answer to many of our customer’s requests, it is a smaller quilt. Paula’s newest collection, Reflections of an Era Past, was also introduced by Marcus Fabrics at Market and it is featured in Lincoln’s Watch. Each new design also has a new kit and they may be seen on the website.
Be sure to check out Web Sampler Celebration V. It begins July 15th and will run through September 15th and features “Sophia”, a beautiful collection in reds and blacks, from Windham Fabrics. Denice Lipscomb of Common Threads Quilting in Waxahachie, TX did a fantastic job designing the blocks. We are currently taking pre-orders on our block and our finishing kit.
It’s only July, so there’s still plenty of time remaining in 2010 to travel and visit with more of our great customers. Later this month we will be traveling to the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA and stopping in Temecula on the way so Paula can conduct a workshop at the Quilter’s Coop - great shop and great ladies, so we’re really looking forward to that. September will find us back in Pennsylvania and Colorado and then back to California in October. We always look forward to the end of October and November because we are back at home with International Quilt Market and Festival. Check out our schedule of upcoming shows on the Events page for dates and details on these events.
We are kicking off July with a bang this year with a month long sale on
18 of our kits - 30% off. Shop early because some of these kits have limited quantities. Amy, our newest BBQ employee, has been hard at work adding new fabric to the website and moving older fabric to the Sales Corner, so we have room on the shelves for all of the new fabric we bought at Market! There are some great fabrics over there, so again shop early.
If we happen to be at a quilt show that you are attending, please stop by and say hello. We love meeting our customers and hearing about the quilts you’ve made – we even love to see them, if you want to bring them along.
So until next time, happy quilting,
Mary Ellen and Paula
PS – Please join us in welcoming 2 new members to the Future Quilters of America club. My new granddaughter, Julianne Marie was born on June 10th and Robin and husband Paul welcomed Rebecca Ruby LeAnn on June 25th. Two absolutely beautiful little girls that we will hopelessly spoil!!!!
Happy Quilting .....
